East and Allies vs Midrealm and Allies!

This year was a return to the traditional sides, but it was not a "war". The Royalty of the East and the Midrealm issued a joint announcement in May which said, in part:
"... in celebration of one-half century of Pennsic Wars, We have decided that there will be no War Points earned, allocated, or counted and that Pennsic War 50 will have no single winning side.
We declare this War to be a celebration of the communities we have built, the fun we all have had, the fierce competition of our most worthy rivals, and the evolution of the first and grandest war in the history of the Knowne World on its landmark 50th occurrence.
It is Our hope that this will foster friendly competition and cooperation between all participants and herald a renewed joy in participation in both the Pennsic War and the Society.
In Service to the Dream, Brennan, Caoilfhionn, Louis, & Sadb"

Populace Shoots
(shot over 5 days, August 6 thru 11, 2023)

Archers could shoot each of the 3 shoots up to 5 times this war. Shooting days were Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

The 3 populace shoots were run as follows:
- Castle Window: 6 shots, untimed, at a distance between 25 and 35 yards; the window slot was "at least 8 inches wide by 36 inches tall"; archers scored 1 point for each shot in the black slot of the window, and 2 points if a shot hit the cobra coiled in the bottom of the window.
- Advancing Soldiers: 6 shots, untimed; the targets were images of armored fighters at approximately 15, 35, 45 and 55 yards, worth 1, 2, 3 and 4 points, respectively; archers could shoot at any target they wished with their 6 shots.
- Clout: 6 shots, untimed. The target was a simulated castle turret 27 ft x 27 ft square, set 100 yards from the line; there was a moat monster protecting the castle in front at about 50 yards. Shots landing inside the clout were worth 3 points; shots hitting the xxx inside the clout were worth 4 points; shots landing in the moat drop zone were worth 1 point; shots hitting the moat monster were worth 2 points.

Archery Champions Team Competition
(shot Wednesday, August 9, 2023)

Each side was allowed to select 30 champions team members and 10 alternates, for a total of 40.
- The Roving Range consisted of 10 stations consisting of a mix of timed shoots, precision shoots, and consistency shoots.
- Friend/Foe: This was a 30-second timed shoot; 30 yards; archers earned 1 point per hit on the foe (a serpent) and lost 1 point for hits on the friend (a panther) or for shots loosed early or late.
- Walk-up: Furthest distance will be 120 yards; each archer fires 2 arrows from each of 6 stations; each shooting line is roughly 20 yards closer. Shots landing inside the clout scored 1 point; shots hitting the cartouche(?) thingy in front scored 2 points.
