Recognition

As archers advance in skill, there are many ways they may be acclaimed.

EK Archery Ranks – the EK archer rankings system is an excellent way to track personal progress. See the Rankings List page for current standings. Past rankings lists are available in the EK Archery History pages, as are lists of archers who have achieved Master Bowman, Grand Master Bowman and (the unofficial) Ludicrous Bowman.
Interkingdom Archery Competition (IKAC) – a privately sponsored Society-wide standardized shoot, with separate divisions for different equipment types and youth age groups. After the end of each season, the sponsor announces the top 3 kingdom teams in each division and awards tokens.
Royal Archery Championship – a competition is held each year to determine the archery champions of the Consort (winner) and Sovereign (selected).
Order of Gawain – EK award which recognizes young participants in youth martial activities, including archery.
Order of Apollo’s Arrow – EK award for skill in archery; includes an award of arms, if the recipient is not already armigerous.
Order of Sagittarius – EK award for “superior prowess” in archery, plus other contributions to the activity; includes a grant of arms, if the recipient does not already have one.
Order of the Mark – a Society-level bestowed Peerage recognizing “great prowess in ranged martial pursuits” (which include target archery), plus other significant contributions to the activity; includes a patent of arms, if the recipient does not already have one.

For EK awards, anyone may recommend someone to the Royalty whom they feel is deserving — see the Award Recommendations system on the EK website. In the case of “polled” Orders, the Royalty confers with the members of the Order in making Their decisions about candidates.
