Getting Started as a Marshal

If you are interested in serving as an archery marshal, THANK YOU!

Archers who wish to become marshals work with mentors, experienced marshals who can help them become familiar with the rules, range safety and basic instruction.

Find a marshal near you and talk with them about becoming a Marshal in Training (MiT). If they agree to mentor you, you can submit an archery marshal report to provide your information to the Kingdom’s archery officers and officially start the training process.

If you have difficulty finding a mentor, please contact the Commander for your EK region. (See the Officer Contacts page.)

Carefully read the SCA and East Kingdom Rules for target archery. Whenever you attend a practice or an event with archery, speak with the Marshal in Charge and offer to observe or help with equipment inspections and range safety.

When you and your mentor feel you are ready and you have met all the other requirements described in the Policies (ex: SCA membership, achieving a ranking, demonstrating familiarity with the Policies), your mentor can request that you be warranted.
